Shelby County, Missouri Obituary - Mrs. Gillum Hopper OBITUARY: Clarence Courier, June 11, 1924 The death of Mrs. Gillum Hopper occurred at her home Sunday afternoon, June 8th about three o'clock. She had been in failing health for several months, but her severe illness extended only from Saturday evening, resulting in her death in only a few hours. Ermina D. Purdy was born in Ohio November 30, 1853. On January 23, 1878 she was united in marriage to Melvin E. Stohr and to this union was born three children, Roy Stohr, of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. Nannie Dicks, of Leesburg, MO, one child deceased. Mr. Stohr passed away March 2, 1897 and she was married to Gillum Hopper on November 3rd, 1907. Besides the husband and two children seven step children survive, namely: Mrs. Jennie Morris, of Billings, Montana; J. S. Hopper, of Clarence; C. M. Hopper, of Brookfield; E. E. Hoper, of Clarence; Glenn Hopper, of Boston, Mass.; Bert Hopper of Maywood, MO; and Mrs. Leona Hayes, of Shelbina; nine brothers: George S. Purdy, of Redman; Willie B., of Lentner; James D., of Macon; Lyman S. and Joseph E., of Clarence; John W., of Moberly; Frank H., of Duncans Bridge; Albert M., of Clarence and Alfred Lee, of Macon; one sister, Mrs. John Minick, of south of Clarence. Two sisters, Phoebe Ann and Albina S., preceded her in death. Mrs. Hopper was a member of the Methodist church and lived a true Christian life. She exemplified many virtues, worth of all imitation. She was queen of the home, making it a center of generous and graceful hospitality. She was a good woman and another soul has winged its way back to God. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Union by Rev. W. N. Giddens, assisted by Rev. S.
