Bryan and Robert Rose, Published by Bryan, Brand & Co., St. Louis Missouri, 1876. ********************************************************************** James Ball and his wife, Nancy Smith, were natives of Fauquier County, Virginia. The names of their children were: Margaret, Judith, Sheltile, Taliaferro, Lucy, Elizabeth, James, John and Casay. John, Sheltile, James and Nancy all settled in Missouri. John married Elizabeth Ellis, of Virginia, and settled in St. Charles County in 1834. He is dead, but his wife survives. Nancy married William Ellis, and settled in St. Charles County in 1835. James married Peggy Smith, and settled in St. Louis County in 1835. Sheltile married Polly Elliott, of Virginia, and settled in St. Louis County, Missouri in 1834. He died some time after- ward, and his widow and children moved to St. Charles County. The names of his children were: John, Bernadette, Benjamin, Sheltile Jr. and Bushrod.
