Wm Linn/Lynn the Ranger of St Charles, MO.Wm Married Annie McCoy 20th of
March 1799 in Harrison Co., KY. They soon moved to Missouri in 1805 he
was one of the Signers of the Wilkinson Memorial. Wm. Lynn made claim on
7 arpents cleared and made improvements on his claim in 1802. In 1809 he
took up 350 aepents on the Cuivre River. During the war of 1812 with the
Indian attacks on the American Frontier a Militia was formed, and Wm
Lynn of St Charles and his 14 year old son Nathan were with Capt David
Musick's Company of U S Mounted Rangers, Louisiana Territory.
The muster rolls indicate the following: May 21, 1814 through Aug31,
1814 was takenat Ft Independence, but Wm was on command with Major
Boone. Aug and Sep. roll was taken at Ft Independence and Wm was
detached at Wood's Fort. From Sep 30th, 1814 to Mar 31, 1815 Wm was
marked present at Ft Independence. Muster roll taken at Camp at Lower
Cuivre Ferry it is noted Wm was killed on the 28th of April 1815.
