Celebrate Two Golden Weddings It is with a great deal of pleasure and pride that we give an account of two Golden Wedding celebrations at the Pleasant Ridge church Sunday, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cook who were married on that date, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Borland whose anniversary occurs February 4. Both of these highly esteemed couples have lived all these years in the Pleasant Ridge community. At the morning church service, a beautiful bouquet of yellow snapdragons, chrysanthemums, and lilies in gold-trimmed vases were presented each couple by the Sunday School. These and other flowers were used on the tables at the noon hour. A three-tiered wedding cake, decorated in yellow and white with a miniature bride and bridegroom, presented to Mr. and Mrs. Cook by Mrs. Goldie Clark and family, and a bouquet presented by their daughter, Mrs. Ruby Baker, and family, formed the decorations on their table. Those present at the Cook table were: Mr. and Mrs. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Baker and LuAnn, Mrs. Goldie Clark, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clark, Misses Lauretta and Rosalie Clark and Charles Kincaid. Relatives seated at an adjoining table were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Frost and family, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Gilmore and family. Mr. and Mrs. Borland were given a bouquet from Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Borland and one from Miss Doretta Borland, which formed the decoration for their table. Seated with Mr. and Mrs. Borland were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Borland, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Borland, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Borland, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Frost, Mr. and Mrs. David Leslie and Miss Doretta Borland. A beautiful red rosebud was presented by Mr. Borland to the superintendent of the Sunday School, Mrs. W. R. Rains, in appreciation of the efforts of everyone who helped to make the day a success. One hundred and twenty relatives and friends enjoyed the lovely dinner. Two turkeys were one of the main features. They were furnished and prepared by Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Mary Raybourn. At the afternoon service, talks were made by Rev. Harlan Naylor, Clyde Chapin and Henry Cook. The men's quartet sang "Silver Threads Among the Gold".
