Amick and children spent Thanksgiving in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coleman. Mrs. Della Hallford and son spent Thusrday with Mrs. Sarah Luther. Arthur Richardson spent one day last week with Elmer Reynolds and family. Dr. Richardson and family spent Thanksgiving in Kansas City with Mr. and Mrs. James Batterson. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nicholas, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Peterie and son, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Peterie and daughter and Jno. Bruce spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Peterie and daughters. Most of the patrons gathered at the Graham school Wednesday evening and enjoyed the program the teacher and chlidren had prepared. Miss Ethel Ward is teacher. George and Vernie Glendening of Greenfield, spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Glendening. Curtis Alexandra spent the day Thursday with Junior Zener. Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Bruce and family and Mr. Beams, Ernest Buckland and family spent Sunday with Tom King and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Alexandra and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Edd Pace. Lloyd Richardson has been quite ill with pneumonia fever. Harry Budd returned home from a hospital in Kansas City Saturday. PLEASANT GROVE: The people really had something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We were very thankful for the big snow which was the largest we've had for five or six years. Several of this community are butchering since the cool weather began. Ralph Logan, wife and little son, Donald spent the day Sunday, visiting near Taberville in the homes of relatives. Mrs. Theodore Baker and little son, Phillip James, spent a few days last week with her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baker. Several have been duck hunting and report that there are quite a few ducks in now. PRAIRIE HOME: About five inches of snow fell in this community Thursday night. So much clung to the trees, making more weight than the limbs could hold, that they were broken off. Several fruit trees were completely ruined. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Moore and family were visitors in the Ray Silvers home Tuesday evening of last week. Mrs. B. D. Mistler and children took dinner with W. E. Moore and family Thanksgiving. Mrs. L. O. Capps spent the night Thursday with Mrs. Joe Jones. Mrs. A. M. Hopkins has been on the sick list the past week. School was dismissed Thursday and Friday of last week for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Walter Haynes and children, Claude Brown and family spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Denver Breeden and family. Ralph Allis of Appleton City was a visitor in the W. E. Moore home Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ellerman of Collins spent Wednesday with Mrs. Elerman's brother, L. O. Capps and family. Thad Bledsoe butchered a hog Wednesday of last week. Mr. Bledsoe can feast on fresh meat now. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Silvers and daughter were callers in Howard Dains' home Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stevens visited with Mr. and Mrs. Thad Bledsoe Saturday afternoon. Those who took dinner in the L. O. Capps home Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Grass and daughter, Kathryn Silvers, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dains, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jones. Osceola visitors from this community last week were: W. E. Moore. MT. ZION: Misses Velda and Neoma Carrol visited Rich Valley school Monday. Vernon Grass was back in school after an absence fo several days. Those who went to Osceola on business Tuesday were Clinton Allinson, Varner Allinson, Moody and Stacy Carrol. The Mount Zion club met Tuesday with Mrs. Julia Allinson. Seven members and four visitors were present. A round table talk, "The Most Irksome Task In My Home" was enjoyed by all. Roll call was answered with "My Most Enjoyable Thanksgiving". The December meeting will be with Mrs. Stella Lewis. Dorotha Carroll cleaned house for Aunt Mag Allison one day last week. Those from here who attended the Kiefer Sale, near Roscoe, Wednesday, were Clinton Allinson, Archie Carroll and Stacy Carrol. Richard Colson called on Stacy Carrol Friday night and found when he got there, Stacy was not at home. Not many from here attended the Thanksgiving dinner at Taberville Thursday. Stacy Carrol was the only one reported being present from here. Junior Grass spent the past week with friends at Harwood. Mrs. Geo. Shepard, who has been an invalid for 9 months, passed away at her home near Johnson City Wednesday night, at the age of 79 years. She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her aged husband, 3 children: Mrs. Robbie Allinson of this community; Milton, of near Johnson City, and Alvin of Middleton; other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Strohm from Roscoe. In spite of the snow and cold winds, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Allison and Kenneth motored to Fort Scott, Kans., Friday and ate dinner with their sister and daughter, Mrs. Ora Waters and family.
