He has been in Joplin for the past several weeks. Mrs. Ina Cooper has movd from the Will Holmes property to the Hughes place (known as Vickers place) in the east part of town. Chas. Stratton, wife and daughter of Columbia, are spending the Christmas holidays in the Dr. C. S. Stratton home, and were also a farewell, as he has accepted work at Osceola and Pleasant Gorve for the coming year. Fiends in the Coon Creek and Locust grove congregation presented him a Schofield Bible. He will reside in Osceola. The children are busily engaged in practice for Christmas. The school tree and program will be Friday night, and the church entertainments will be held on Christmas eve. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Rippetoe of Independence visited Sunday with Mrs. Edith Taylor and son and they were all guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bratcher for dinner, after church service. Mrs. Leota Lawrence and little daughter are very ill, and her mother, Mrs. Geo. Brinegar is here caring for them. C. M. Simms spent the weekend with homefolks. Mrs. Ollie Culbertson of Kansas City came with him, and will visit friends and relatives here. Mrs. C. S. Stratton returned Friday afternoon after spending several days at S. Louis, assisting to care for her grandson, Stratton Lindenmeyer, who had a very bad ear trouble. Mrs. Will Penny spent the day Thursday with Mrs. Carl Jackson. Mrs. G. P. Cawford's many friends are hoping to have her return soon from Kansas City, where she has been in Trinity Lutheran hospital for treatment. J. N. Neilson spent Friday night at Clinton with his sister, Mrs. Asher Williams and husband. Gene Cassidity who has been in school in Springfield is home for Christmas. Dwight Fergerson spent several days the past week in Kansas City. Icel Louise Perm is home from Columbia. Her many friends hope to see her up and around. She is especially missed at Sunday school and church. Mrs. Geo. Delozier and daughters called in the Mrs. Chas. Matlock home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Frank Hord also called in that home. Miss Polly Matlock spent Sunday night in the Delozier home. Ben Osborn of North Dakota returned home after visiting the past week with his mother and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lysinger spent Sunday in the home of John Lysinger and wife. Elizabeth Ross spent Sunday with Dorothy Williams. Mrs. Elsie Shaffner and Mrs. Carl Jackson visited Mrs. Wilbur Liston Sunday afternoon. Mrs. C. Jackson was a supper guest of Mrs. Shaffner Sunday night. GERSTER: Mrs. Joe Tipton of Faithville and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Noah of Kansas City, Kans., visited several days during the past week with Sherman Dindsay and family. Mrs. Wm. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Barney Carter of Redlands, Calif., are visiting with the former's mother, Mrs. Myers and other relatives of this vicinity. Moving has been the order of the day here the past week. We regret losing two of our neighborhood families, Denis Hubbard who moved to a farm beyond Deepwater and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Boring who moved from restaurant to his former home near Mt. Zion. Everett Terry of Oklahoma is visiting with his parents, E. M. Terry and wife. Neil Bray of Willard visited Sunday, between trains, with his brother, H. H. Bray and family. Wallace Parker and wife and son and niece, Dessie Parker of Warsaw and Chas. Parker and son who live the other side of Quincy, were Sunday visitors in the home of Mrs. Moore. PRAIRIE HOME: The past week has brought us beautiful weather for this time of the year. We hope it continues this way until after the Christmas holiday, although we are hoping for a "white Christmas", so that Santa can come in his sleigh instead of aeroplane. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reed and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Reed's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Bledsoe. Dale Motley and Albert Dains went to Brownington Sunday to visit Mrs. Dains' cousin. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Will Mistler were visitors in the L. O. Capps home Sunday. Mrs. Will Moore adn Waneta and Mrs. Howard Dains and baby were callers in the L. O. Capps home Monday afternoon. Howard Dains and Arthur Allison went to Butler on business Monday. Mrs. A. M. Hopkins went to Appleton City Monday to have her hand treated again. She has been suffering a lot of pain, as a result from an infected finger. Marjorie Cook, Elizabeth Hopkins and Gladys Ritchey went home with LaVern Dains from Sunday school Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dains invited a number of their friends to their home Sunday evening to enjoy music played by their son Emmit, and his friend, Mrs. Priviton of Taberville, and Mrs. Dains. Mr. Priviton played the violin, Emmit, the guitar and Mrs. Dains the organ. They played some very beautiful numbers which were enjoyed very much. We hope to hear them again soon. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Silvers took their cousin, Miss Marie Harper to Osceola Tuesday. Miss Harper has been visiting them the past week. She will visit until after Christmas with friends and relatives in St. Clair county and Ash Grove, and plans to be at home for the New Year. LONG RIDGE: There has been a revival meeting going on at Long Ridge the past two weeks, conducted by Bro. School Craft and Bro. Baker. The services closed Sunday night. There were a few conversions, and some very inspiring sermons. Mrs. S. E. Howerton is very poorly at this writing having a bad case of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis and little daughter Alice and Mrs. Pauline Myers spent the day Thursday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Henderson. Ed Cooley of Colorado and aunt, Mrs. A. E. Reynolds, of Humansville spent Thursday of last week in the Geo. Reynolds home. Mrs. Vesta Gordon spent Wednesday with Mrs. Cole Kelley and assisted with the butchering. Frank Davis and E. H. Henderson made a business trip to Urich Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rhodes visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allen. The teacher Miss Maxine Whiting and pupils are planning a program and Christmas tree for Friday afternoon. BRADFORD: Jeff Loftin sawed wood for J. A. Rutter and Frank Lane Tuesday. Several of the people around here butchered their hogs last week, due to the high price of feed. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Neilson and L. A. Rutter ate dinner in the Frank Lane home Wednesday. Friends of Jay Beach will be interested to learn of his marriage to Margaret Davis of Kansas City. The marriage occured several weeks ago. We extend congratulations. Miss Beulah Lane returned on Saturday from Lowry City and vicinity where she had spent a week visiting relatives and with friends. Mrs. Homer Tucker and Mrs. Geo. Kelley spent Friday with Mrs. Frank Lane. Mrs. E. Perkins is visiting her son, Ervin Perkins of Bolivar and other relatives in Springfield. Frank Payton called at the Grover Roeder home Saturday.
