Gene spent his entire career involved in electronics, owning Hall TV & Electronics on the Square in Liberty for 17 years, and taught at the Electronic Institute. He loved golf, solitaire, computers, his aquariums, and cats, Samantha and Yogi. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Hall. He is survived by three sons, Kenneth Hall, Independence, Richard Hall, Liberty, and Alan Hall of Independence; two granddaughters, Kami Hall and Kali Hall of Liberty; and two loving former wives, Alberta Hall, Liberty, and Mary Beth Hall LaPona of Independence. O’REAR - Edith V. (Bigham) O'Rear was born December 17, 1915, in Labette, KS, and died June 9, 2004, at the Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, MO. She was born the third of eight children belonging to Eva (Williams) and Stanley Bigham. She attended grade school near the family homestead. Following graduation, she worked in Oswego, KS. She married William Howard O'Rear on June 1, 1932, in Girard, KS. There were two children, Billie Howard and Carol Irene, born to this 51-year union. They lived their early marriage years in Oswega and Winfield, KS. Later, Howard's work took them to Graham Station near Independence, KS. After moving to rural Caney, KS, Edith worked at Ted's Grill in Coffeyville and the Country Club in Pittsburg, KS. She also worked at Electra Manufacturing in Independence, KS, in their photo lab. Later, she used this skill with her work at Hadden Photography in Coffeyville. Her retirement years were started in Coffeyville, KS. There, she was a volunteer for the Hotline and the Red Cross. She was a member of the Caney Baptist Church. To be close to part of her family, she moved to Lee's Summit, MO, in 1981. Edith volunteered at her new church home, the Faith Baptist Church of Lee's Summit. Through the years, she sang in the choir and often sang duets with other members of the church. While physically able she helped with flowers both outside and inside the church. Her faithful attendance to both church and family was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard (Shorty) O'Rear, in 1983, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. She leaves two children, Billie O'Rear and wife Dee Ann of Grand Junction, CO, Carol Moats and husband, Lon, of Lee's Summit. Mrs. Reed was born March 11, 1909, south of Kidder in Caldwell County, MO, to Harry Scott Knoch and Ada Holladay Knoch. She graduated from Atchison, KS, High School in 1927. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Scholastica College, now Benedictine College in Atchison. On January 4, 1932, she married William Randall Reed. Mrs. Reed went to work for the Division of Welfare in Clinton County in 1946. She retired in July 1977 as District 4 Child Welfare Supervisor. Some of the happiest times in her professional life involved placing children with adoptive parents. Always involved in community service, she was past president of St. Joseph District of PTA and past president of Northwest Division Missouri Association for Social Welfare. Mrs. Reed was a member of Cameron United Methodist Church and its women's organizations. In her retirement years, she continued to be active in other community organizations, such as the Nutrition Center, Cancer Society and American Red Cross. She was involved with the historical societies of both Cameron and Caldwell County and helped compile historical information for the Cameron Library. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Maurice Scott Knoch, and sister, Winifred Stice. She is survived by two sons, William Randall Reed, Jr., Kearney, and David J. Reed, Cameron; daughter, Marilyn K. Davis, Shawnee, KS. During TWA furloughs, Al served as finance director for the City of Lee's Summit, chaired the Lee's Summit Planning Commission for 10 years and was a vice-president at Midland Bank. During retirement, Al enjoyed operating a booth at the Westport Flea Market. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Tilton, mother, Nina Scott Tilton and brother, Richard Tilton. A descendent of Platte County Scottish-Irish settlers, she was born on July 14, 1914, near Camden Point, MO, the daughter of Jesse Price Lindsey and Nannie B. Nower Lindsey. Having started country school at the age of five, she graduated at age 16 from West Platte High School, Weston, MO, class of 1931. She worked at the Weston Post Office, as City Clerk of Weston, as Platte County Democratic Election judge, and retired from civil service with the U.S. Army Strategic Communications Command at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and retired again with the American Red Cross in Kansas City, MO. She was a member of Christian Women's Fellowship, Weston Garden Club, Weston Friendly Neighbors, 8 & 40, Order of The White Shrine of Jerusalem, AARP, NARFE, a lifelong member of the Weston Christian Church, a 50+ year member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, and current President and 50+ year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #501, and many other service and volunteer organizations. On Jan. 1, 1938, she married George H. Weigman, Sr. Mr. Weigman died Sept. 1, 1976. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, Bessie Mae Lindsey Blankenship, Walter Clay Lindsey, Alvey Percy Lindsey, Phoebe Marie Lindsey Humes, and grandson, John Taylor Stout. She is survived by son, George H. Weigman, Jr., Reedsport, OR; daughters, Sarah Jane Weigman Lowe, Merced, CA, and Carolyn Ann Weigman Jordan, Weston, MO; two grandsons; and one granddaughter in California; one granddaughter in Oregon. Local granddaughters are Sarah Louise Stout, Sheila Marie Jones Lewis & husband, Jay Lewis, and her beloved great- granddaughter, Ember Nicole Lewis, all of Gladstone. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer B. and Velva A. She had made her home for the past three years with her daughter and sonin-law, Carolyn (Tug) and John D. Jordan on a farm at Bear Creek Equine Rescue & Sanctuary, Weston. Having inherited and passed on a great love of horses & mules, she loved all of the rescued animals and had a special, long-time, mutual affection with O'Malley, a Belgian draft mule rescued nearly 25 years ago, that she would hug and feed carrots to almost daily from her deck. A person of exceptional character and selfless giving, she was a dedicated patriot, and spent her life being involved in community projects that benefited others. For many years she was the Poppy Lady and the person that made certain that the U.S. Veterans in Platte County were honored with American Flags on their graves for Memorial Day. She was honored with one of the early Excellence in Education Awards for Service by the Northland Chamber of Commerce and a Lifetime Member of the ClardyGashland PTA. She was a loving, caring wife and daughter who enjoyed friends and family immensely. JoAnn will be remembered for her beauty and good works.
