Linda was born on July 23, 1951 in Rolla, MO. Linda's career as a nurse practitioner was spent at Planned Parenthood in Kansas City and in Warrensburg, MO for 14 years, following an earlier career as a psychiatric nurse. Linda provided endless compassion and laughter to the many patients she encountered daily. As a result of her enthusiasm for others, she inspired many people to improve their lives. Linda was a "stand out" to many doctors, nurses and other medical practitioners whom she inspired to be human, rather than "medical," to the needs of their patients. Linda was filled with a contagious sense of humor and joy. She was a natural at bringing humor and laughter to all those whose lives she touched. She was a talented artist and gardener. She leaves behind her life partner of 25 years, Dana Dubiner of the home; her mother, Marian Allred of Overland Park, KS; three sisters, Judy Ball and husband, Steve of Roeland Park, KS, Suzanne Allred- Smalldridge and husband, Rene' of Manhattan, KS, Peggy Allred of Salina, KS; and brother, Dr. Charles Allred and wife, Janda of Salina, KS; seven nieces and nephews; and finally her beloved dog, Toby, her five kitties and a yard filled with beautiful flowers and trees. Linda left this world with bold courage. Despite her two-year battle with Painful Peripheral Sensory Polyneuropathy, she was able to keep her friends and family laughing, always true to the way she lived her life - with humor. Barely able to walk, she would joyfully ride the motorized cart through WalMart, talking and joking with everyone she encountered. With a grateful smile, Linda wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses who provided true compassion and endless care. For those who loved her, embraced her, and laughed with her during her lifetime, you will hear her in your hearts. Contributions to the Neuropathy Association would be most welcome. Margaret “Cathy” Cathleen - MCGEE SCHEURER Margaret Cathleen "Cathy" McGee Scheurer, 47, Dallas, TX, died unexpectedly at home on April 10, 2004. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on January 17, 1957, the eldest daughter of Joan and Tom McGee. Cathy graduated Cum Laude from the Barstow School in 1975, and with honors from Duke University in 1979. After graduation, she moved to Dallas to pursue a career in direct mail retail with Neiman Marcus and the Horchow Collection. In May 1981, while working for The Horchow Collection, Cathy met Hugh Scheurer, formerly of Wichita Falls, TX. They were married November 27, 1982. After marrying, Cathy pursued a life dedicated to her families. She brought three boys into the world, Tommy, Paul, and Ricky. Cathy's love of family extended to the great outdoors, where she enjoyed weekend gatherings at Possum Kingdom Lake, trips to Montana and Idaho and cooking for the boys on their frequent hunting and fishing expeditions. She was tirelessly devoted to improving the many organizations she was involved with while raising her three sons and serving as her husband's partner in the Signature Bank of Dallas. Cathy was president of her senior class at Duke University and served a president of the Duke Alumni Assoc. of Dallas. She worked as Assistant Director of the All Saints Little Saints preschool program for many years. At each of the schools her boys attended, there was no task too large or small Cathy would not undertake to raise funds or in other ways improve the school's educational offering or community spirit. At Parish Day School, Cathy served as treasurer and cochairperson of the Annual Gala. She also edited the yearbook and cochaired the silent auction fundraiser and served as room mother. Cathy served as PTA President for two years at Parkhill Junior High, founded the beautification program, and was awarded a lifetime membership in the PTA. She also founded the yearly school supply sale fundraiser. While her three sons attended J.J. Pierce High School, she served as president of the PTA, was a member of the Booster Club, and was a charter founder of the Excellence in Education Fund. She also founded the Student Savers Program at Signature Bank. Always positive, she never spoke an unkind word, was quick to identify a need and address it. Her warmth and enthusiasm naturally drew others to dedicate themselves, as she did, to the many causes she held dear. While the light of this exceptional lady's life has been extinguished, here memory will live on forever with her many friends and family members. Hugh and their sons will miss Cathy. Their love and devotion to Cathy will be everlasting. On her desk is a prayer that gives them comfort: "When things in life seem hard to handle. . . just know that God is watching over you, I know because I asked Him to." Cathy was predeceased by her father Thomas R. McGee, and is survived by her husband Hugh H. and her children Thomas, Paul, Richard, Julie and husband Mark Curry, Mark Scheurer and wife Cary; granddaughters Jacqueline Curry and Taylor Scheurer; her mother Joan McGee; and siblings Susan McGee, Tom McGee, Jr., and wife Jill, Sarah Jury and husband Ron, all of Kansas City, MO. Margaret Cathleen "Cathy" McGee Scheurer - MCGEE SCHEURER Margaret Cathleen "Cathy" McGee Scheurer, 47, Dallas, TX, died unexpectedly at home on April 10, 2004. On her desk is a prayer that gives them comfort: "When things in life seem hard to handle. . . just know that God is watching over you, I know because I asked Him to."
