McHenry Wiley Layne County Justices Item #6 – Lease Agreement 5/20/1860 This agreement made this 20th of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty between Harvey and Robert Blackwell of Saint Francois County and State of Missouri of the first part and Theodore and Henry Bisch of the same county and State aforesaid Witnesseth that the agreement of the above contract is this, the said Theodore and Henry Bisch have built a stone house on the land of Harvey and Robert Blackwell, known as Blackwell Station, for the purpose of merchandizing and commission business. The said Theodore and Henry Bisch are to have all the pribiliges of merchandiszing and commission business on their land and no other person have the right to interfere with the above contract. The above conditions is that the said Theodore and Henry Bisch have built a stone house which has cost them Nine Hundred and Sixty Five dollars. the said Harvey and Robert Blackwell garrantees to the said Theodore and Henry Bisch that they shall hold a lease of said stone for the term of Five Years and at the expiration of the above number of Years mentioned the said Harvey and Robert Blackwell are to pay to Theodore and Henry Bisch the sum of four hundred and Sixty Five Dollars. Then the stone house belongs to Harvey and Robert Blackwell and then this contract stands null and void. But in case at the expiration of the above five years, the said Harvey and Robert Blackwell should lease the above stone house, then the said Theodore and Henry Bisch is to have the refusal of said lease in preference to any other person.
