Mr. Turpin and wife had visited in Iatan with relatives and had returned to his St. Louis home on Friday when death struck on the following Tuesday. Mr. Turpin, 74, a son of George P. and Sarah Turpin was born and lived his early life in the Iatan-Bean Lake neighborhood. He left Iatan 47 years ago and had been a Meat Inspector for Wilson Packing Co., until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of the home, two daughters and a son and nine grandchildren. Other suvivors are one brother, Balious Turpin of Atchison; eight sisters, Mrs. N.D. Goble, Mrs. Ora Palmer, Mrs. Hazel Montgomery all of Iatan, Mrs. Sam Alexander, Weston, Mrs. Fred Tucker, Independence, Mrs. Rena Kelly, St. Joseph and Mrs. Lula Struve, Atchison hospital and Mrs. Edna Lah, Tacoma, Wash. Mr. Turpin was a member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic Lodge. Services and burial were in St. Louis.
