In the name of God Amen. I John Scism of the county of Stoddard in the state of Missouri aged seventy years being of sound mind do make and publish this my last will and testament as follows. I request that my funeral be conducted under the direction of my beloved wife and in a manner suitable to my means and position in life and that a suitable stone be placed pg. 122 by her to mark the final resting place of my remains the cost of which shall be considered as funeral expences. And I direct that my funeral charges the Expences of administration on my estate and all my Just debts be paid out of my personal Estate. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucretia the house in which I now live and Thirty acres of land any where she may select to hold and enjoy absolutely in fee Simple during her life at her death my Son Schuyler C. Shall have and hold the Same. I will and bequeath to son Samuel One Dollar. I ... and bequeath to my son William twenty acres of land on the West side of the 40 acres joining the McPheeters farm and two dollars in Money. I give an bequeath to my Grand children John A. Christian, Ida M. Christian, Virginia E. Christian and George Christian Eighty acres of Land to be dived Equally among them. All the rest residue and remainder of my personal I give and bequeath to my wife (with the exception of one horse my son Schuyler is to have choice of my horses) to have the use and control of the same as long as she may live. I appoint my sons William and John M. Executors of this my will revoking any former will by me made and I authorize and empower my said executors in the settlement of my Estate and of any debts due me to compromise such debts and if they think it advantageous to my Estate to accept in satisfaction less than the full amount thereof. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 24th day of January 1887. John Scism The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof signed and declared by the said John Scism to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names thereto as witnesses. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margaret E. Deurry forty Dollars. I give and bequeath to my Son John M. One Dollar. I give and bequeath to my Son James M. 1 cow & calfe and two head of Sheep. I give and bequeath to my son Green L.P. 80 acres of land described as follows 20 acres off the East side of the 40 acres Joining the McPheeters farm and ten acres off the East side of the South East quarter of the South West quarter of section 33 in Township 27 North of Range 10 East and fifty acres of the west side of South East quarter of section 33 Township 27 Range 10. I give and bequeath to my Grand Son Clarence Dennis Scism and his bodily 40 acres of land described as follows: North West quarter of the North West quarter section 32 Township 27 Range 10 and one Dollar in Money. All the rest residue and remainder of my real estate I give and bequeath to my son Schuyler C. Scism. Reed Proof of Will State of Missouri, County of Stoddard In the Probate Court in vacation Be it Remembered that on this the 21" day of Feby A.D. 1887 before me Judge of the probate Court held in and for the county and State aforesaid, personally appeared John B. Cooper and William J. Reed, who are the subscribing witnesses to the annexed will of John Scism, Sr. deceased and being by me first duly sworn depose and say That the said John Scism, Sr. the Testator subscribed the same in their presence and published and declared said will or Instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and that at the time of signing the same he the said testator was of sound and disposing mind and more than twenty one years of age, and that said deponents attested said will as witnesses thereto by subscribing their names to the same in the presence of the testator and of Each other and at the request of the said testator. Wilson Judge of the Probate court of Stoddard County Missouri having Examined the foregoing Instrument purporting to be the Last Will of John Scism Sr., deceased and having heard the testimony of John B. Cooper and Wm. J. Reed subscribing witnesses thereto in Relation to the Execution of the same do declare and adjudge said Instrument to be the Last Will and testament of the said John Scism Sr. deceased late of Stoddard County, Missouri. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said court at office in Bloomfield this 21" day of Feby A.D. 1887 P.G.
