I Gershom Allen of the county of Stoddard in the State of Missouri, being of Sound mind, but Knowing the uncertainty of life therefore do make and publish this my last will and testament. 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah all my personal and Real Estate to enjoy enduring her natural life, in full discharge of her dower in My real and personal estate excepting one gray gelding wich I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas B. Allen to hold for himself his heirs and assigns. 2nd I also give and bequeath to my Son Thomas B. Allen, his heirs an assigns forever after death of my beloveth wife the following described land in Stoddard County in the State of Missouri, to Wit: The West half of the South West quarter and South East quarter of the South west quarter of Section twenty seven in township number twenty eight North, of Range ten East containing one hundred and twenty acres. 3rd after the death of my beloveth wife Sarah I give and bequeath to my daughter Saphena (Campbell) the Sum of five dollars in full of her distributive share in my real and personal Estate. 4th I also give and bequeath to my grand children (after the death of my beloved wife Sarah) (to wit) Martha Angeline Allen, Nancy Jane Allen and Susan C. Allen each the sum of two dollars and fifty cents. In full discharge of their distributive shares in My Estate real and personal and lastly as to all the rest and residue, and remainder of my estate whatsoever after the ... of my Just debts and the death of my beloveth wife I give and bequeath to my grand children Isaac B. Allen and Jefferson D. Story one share equal to that of my Son Isaac B. Allen & Mary Ann Horton, Martha McVeil, Manerva C. Looney or Thomas B. Allen, these my last named children Isaac B. Allen, Mary Ann Horton, Martha McVeil, Manerva C. Looney and Thomas B. Allen in the lastly devised property I will and bequeath them share and share alike hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 23rd of August AD 1869. Rhodes State of Missouri, county of Stoddard Be it remembered that on this the 17th day of January AD 1872 before me Stephen Chapman Clerk of the Probate Court within and for the County of Stoddard in the State of Missouri personally appeared Jacob Kappler and P.M. Rhodes, who being by me duly sworn upon their oath say that they were present and saw Gersham Allen Sign the annexed instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of him the said Gersham Allen and heard him publish and declare the Same to be his last will and Testament, and that at the time of signing the same, the Said Gersham Allen was of sound and disposing mind, and that these deponents subscribed their names thereto as witnesses to the same in the presence of each other and the Said testator, at the request of said Gersham Allen. Rhodes the witnesses above named, do adjudge and declare the said instrument of writing to be the last will and Testament of Gersham Allen deceased. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed the seal of said Probate Court of Stoddard county at office in Said County this 17th day of January AD 1872.
