Spencer M. Hubbard, subject of this sketch, received his education at Salem, MO. under Prof. Lynch. After this he farmed, taught school, and studied medicine under his brother James M. In 1880-81 he attended medical lectures at St. Louis, and in the latter year he located at Elk Creek, Texas County, where he engaged in the practice of his profession. Soon after he went to Mountain Grove and formed a partnership with his bro- ther. In 1884 he came to Cabool, where he again began the practice of medicine, which he continued until elected county clerk, in 1886. On June 7, 1877, he married the daughter of Robert W. and Clara (Bundy) Hardin, who were also among the earliest settlers of Texas County, MO.
