Randall, farmer, is a son of Ornan and Esther (Stafford) Randall, who were born in Rhode Island and Vermont, respectively, but were married in New York. The father served in a regiment of artillery during the War of 1812, and from the jar occasioned by firing the guns he became quite deaf. From New York they moved to Bradford County, Penn., and in 1855 immigrated to Texas County, MO., where they were engaged in farming, and where the mother died at the age of fifty-seven years. The father returned to Pennsyl- vania, and there died at about the age of eighty years. Their family consisted of twelve children, five sons being soldiers in the Federal army during the late war, and one in the Confederate. Jabez D. Randall, one of the sons, was born in Bradford County, Penn., March 5, 1846, and was there reared on a farm and received a common school education. In May, 1863, he enlisted in Company B, Fifth Cavalry, of Missouri State Militia, and served until the close of the war, being a participant in the battle of Boonville. After peace was proclaimed he returned to his parents' home in Missouri, and here has been engaged in husbandry up to the present time, being now the owner of 249 acres of land, eighty of which is under cultivation. He is a Republican in politics, was committee- man from his district, and has been constable of Sherrill Township for two years. January 1, 1867, he espoused Miss Mary A. Bradford, a daughter of James Bradford. She was born in Texas County on October 6, 1847, and her union with Mr. Randall has been blessed in the birth of five children: James L., Esther A., Oscar A., Leslie C. and Iva F. (deceased). Mr. Randall and wife belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church, and are worthy citizens of the county. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
