After the war he settled in In- diana, where he passed the remainder of his days. Washington Watson removed with his family to Nodaway County, MO., in 1855, and there he died in 1860. His son, David H. Watson, attained his growth in Miss- ouri and Louisiana. He followed farming there and in Iowa until 1885, when he came to Cabool, MO., and here engaged in the hotel business. At the end of one year he abandoned this, and turned his attention to farming. He has a fine farm, situated three and a half miles northeast of Cabool, on the Houston road, and it is well watered by good natural springs from the solid rock. This farm is well adapted to stock farm- ing and raising fruit. Mr. Watson was married in Nodaway County, MO., to Miss Susan Roberts, a native of that county, and the daughter of Elijah Roberts, who was born in Indiana. To Mr. and Mrs. Watson has been born one child, Nathan Leslie. Mr. Watson has always affiliated with the Democratic party, and has rendered it important aid at this place on many occasions. He is a member of the A. O. U. W., and has held many official positions in that order.
