Robert (Bob) was born 28 August 1939 in Licking, Texas County, Missouri. Growing up, his father’s vocation caused the family to move many times. He graduated from Hahnville High School in Louisiana then attended Louisiana State University. After college he entered the Air Force as a pilot cadet. When Bob left the service, among other jobs, he worked as a St. Louis fireman, a Greyhound bus operator and a truck driver. As an adult he lived in several states; Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma. When Bob retired from the road, he settled in the Ellington, Missouri area. He purchased Lake Clearwater Lodge (aka The Lower Bar) at Webb Creek and leased it to the Modern Day Veterans Chapter 173. “The Lodge” was the center of activity in the area and Bob was deeply involved in the Webb Creek community and made many friends. Numerous interests occupied Bob’s time. He enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles, keeping up with news and politics, cooking and computers. He studied religion and history, particularly anything related to the military. Bob is laid to rest in the Licking City Cemetery, Licking Missouri along with other Housden family members. Robert Allen Housden, may he rest in peace, is greatly missed by his family and friends.
