He was a very intelligent man, and was frequently solicited to run for office, but always refused, because he had so great a dislike for politics. He married Sally Kellogg, by whom he had nine child- ren: Jane, Judith, Helen, Harriet, Huldah R., Virgil, Mark, Norman O. and Charles W.
