Biographical Sketch of Stephen D. Shore, Washington County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Stephen D. Shore is a native of Washington County, and was born January 10, 1825. His parents, Gilbert and Patsey (Christian) Shore, were nat- ives of Kentucky, and of the eight children born to them Stephen was the eldest. He was reared in his native county, and in 1849 went to California, where he remained eight years, engaged in trading in stock and different occupations. After his return to Washington County he resumed farming, and now owns between 500 and 600 acres of land. He is well known as an enterprising agriculturist.
