Biographical Sketch of Charles S. Waugh, Washington County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Charles S. Waugh, a leading citizen, and one of the prominent agricul- turists of Washington County, was born in that county January 2, 1838. His father, Abner Waugh, was a native of Virginia and November 24, 1837 he married Elizabeth Boas, a daughter of Jacob Boas. They had a family of three children, named respectively, Charles S., Mary J. and Adelia. Charles was reared in his native county, and for a time devoted consid- erable attention to teaching school; later he was engaged in smelting. His whole time is now occupied in attending to the interests of his farm and raising stock.
