Biographical Sketch of Rev. Jacob Good, Webster County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Rev. Jacob Good was born in Rockingham county, of the "Old Dominion," on the 4th of October, 1825, his father being Jacob Good, of Virginia. The latter grew to manhood and was married in his native state to Miss Eve Wideck, who was also of Virginia. In 1858 he determined to seek his fortune in the West, and accordingly moved to Greene county, Mo., where he died in 1865, his wife having died in 1836. Jacob Good, whose name heads this sketch, immigrated to Tennessee in 1839, and located in Robinson county, but in 1853 came to Missouri and settled in Greene county. August 29, 1844, he was married, in Tennessee, to Emeline E. Ruffin, a native of Tennessee, and after locating in Missouri engaged in tilling the soil, teaching school and preaching the Gospel, having been ordained a minister of the Missionary Baptist Church in 1853. In 1863 he located in Marshfield, where he was engaged in the mercantile business for about four years, after which he spent a few years on a farm, and in 1883 moved to Seymour, where he began selling lumber, afterward adding furniture and undertaking goods. He is doing a thriv- ing business, and besides this property owns a one-third interest in the flouring mills of Seymour. In connection with his ministerial work he has been moderator of the Webster County Association for the past twenty-one years, and in his connection with the church has been inst- rumental in saving many souls. He is a Master Mason in the Masonic fraternity, and he and wife are the parents of the following named children: Thomas A., who is married and resides in Colorado; Joel B., married and a resident of Henry county, Mo.; John W., married and re- siding in Seymour, Webster county; Rutha A., wife of H. L. Walker, a resident of Seymour; Jacob W., married and also residing in Seymour; and Albert B.
