Biographical Sketch of Peter F. Hailey, Webster County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Peter F. Hailey is one of the prosperous farmers and stock raisers of Webster county, Mo., and is a native of Bedford county, Tenn., born January 1, 1826, being a son of Tavner and Joyce (Thompson) Hailey, who were born, reared and married in Henry county, Va., and subsequently moved to Maury county, Tenn., and afterward to Bedford county. About 1839 they located in what is now Webster county, Mo., and here the father died about 1866, having served in the War of 1812. Since attain- ing his thirteenth year Peter F. Hailey has resided in Webster county. He made the paternal roof his home until twenty-six years of age, then was married in 1851 to Martha Ann Wammack, a native of Tennessee, and shortly after located on a farm in the neighborhood where he now lives, where he has a good 100 acre farm, nearly all of which is under culti- vation, and a substantial two story residence, and good barns and orchard. He served about one year in the Missouri State Militia during the late war, and was in the fight at Lone Jack. He received his dis- charge in May, 1863, and then returned home and re-engaged in the peaceful pursuit of farming. He and wife are members of the Missionary Baptist Church. They are the parents of the following children: James T., a physician of Douglas county, Mo.; William; Mary T., wife of George W. Hicks; Martha J., wife of James McBerry; A.
