Biographical Sketch of Hiram Jennings, Webster County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Hiram Jennings is a native of Missouri, born in Webster county on the 18th of January, 1853, and is a son of John and Elizabeth (Sartin) Jennings, who were born in North Carolina and Kentucky, respectively. About 1840 they moved to Greene county, Mo., but shortly after located on their present farm in Benton township. Hiram Jennings grew to man- hood in Webster county, and remained with his father until he attained his majority, when he was married in this county, January 17, 1875, to Miss Artelia Watts, a native of the county, and a daughter James Watts. After his marriage he resided on his father's farm for a few years, being engaged in trading in stock, and in 1880 moved to his present farm, and engaged in mercantile pursuit in a small way7, but has grad- ually increased his business until he now has a large and lucrative trade. He also has an excellent farm of 210 acres, and has about seventy-five acres under cultivation. His children's names are as follows: Ellis L., Laura B., and John E.
