Biographical Sketch of David A. Williams, M.D., Webster County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** David A. Williams, M. D., a leading physician of Webster county, Mo., was born in Henry county, Tenn., September 18, 1854 and is a son of Richard M. and Lucy (Walker) Williams, who were also born in Tennessee, the former's death occuring at Eureka Springs, Ark., whither he had gone for his health, June 19, 1885 and the latter's in Henry county, Tenn., when David A. was quite young. After his wife's death Mr. Williams married Mary C. Callaway, who is still living in Webster county. They resided in Tennessee until 1870, when they came to Miss- ouri, and purchased the farm on which Mrs. Williams is now living. He was a successful farmer, and in his political views was a Democrat. He belonged to the Christian Church and the Masonic fraternity. During the Mexican War he served under Gen. Taylor, and participated in all the principal battles fought under that leader. Seven children were born to his marriage with Miss Walker, six of whom are living: J. T., George W., Richard C., David A., Annie (wife of John Butts) and Willie; Charles is deceased. Four children were born to his last marriage: Charles T., James R., Zanoda F. and Marion E. Dr. David A. Williams was educated in the seminary at Lebanon, Mo., and in 1879 began the study of medicine under his brother, George W., and during 1881 and 1882 he attended the Missouri Medical College, receiving a diploma in 1883, since which time he has practiced his profession with good success in Niangua, Mo. January 1, 1883 he was married to Miss Mollie E. Thompson, a daughter of John A. Thompson, by whom he has two child- ren: Gertrude, who died when an infant; and Hallie E., who is now three years old.
