He was born March 20, 1911, in Worth County, Mo. Dillard was the seventh of nine children born to John M. and Clara B. Jones Dannar. He graduated from Worth, Mo., High School in 1929, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He farmed until moving to Mount Vernon in 1952. He retired from the Sanatorium in Mount Vernon in 1976, Where he worked as a plumber. Before Mr. Dannar's fall on June 10, causing a serious head injury, he loved to garden ans work in his yard. Mr. Dannar was member of the First Christian Church, Mount Vernon. He married Worthy Chapman on Feb. 4, 1939, in Albany, Mo., and she survives. Other survivors include Kay Leffingwell, Marionville, Karen Bailey, St. Louis, Mo., and Carol Kennedy, Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Eva Meek and Mary Frances Trump both of St. Joseph, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Teresa Jones and Lisa McCord, Kansas City, Lori Sumners, Marionville, Shannon Mitchel, St. Louis, Kristen Wilson, Shelbyville, Mo., Carolyn Kennedy, Shreveport, La., Wesley Dannar Bailey, Norfolk, Va., Jennifer Weyer, Garland, Texas, and Heather Kennedy, Austin, Texas; and 15 great-grandchildren. Granddad Dannar was very proud of his grandchildren and loved for them to visit him. Services will be as 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999, in Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. John Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends are welcome to stop by the funeral home or the family home in Mount Vernon, where no formal visitation is planned.
