Albany Ledger, Albany, Mo.  16 Sept. 1965
Sartain S. McComas, son of John and Cordelia McComas, was born at Denver, Mo. 
on Oct. 2, 1872, and passed away at the Gentry Co. Memorial Hospital in Albany 
on Sept. 9, 1965, at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 7 days.  Mr. McComas 
was united in marriage on Mar. 22, 1891 to Margaret Givens.  To this union 
eight children were born, four of whom survive:  Guy McComas of Kansas City; 
Aubrey McComas of Albany; Gilbert McComas of Pattonsburg and Curtis McComas of 
Gilman City.  He was preceded in death by his wife on July 25, 1925, and four 
children: Marshall McComas, Bertha King, Abbie Montgomery, and Ralph McComas, 
also six brothers and five sisters.  He was united in marriage on March 7, 1928 
to Myrtle Hacker who passed away on March 13, 1960.  Mr. McComas spent his 
entire life in the three adjoining counties of Gentry, Worth, and Harrison.  
For the past five years, he had made his home with his son Aubrey McComas.  He 
was converted early in life and united with the New Hope Batptist Church north 
of Denver, Mo.  Besides the four children named above, he is survived by a step-
son Otas Hacker, and a step-daughter, Roberta Long, both of Bethany; a sister 
Sally Iden of Billings, Mont.; 10 grand-children, 37 great-grandchildren and a 
number of great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, at the Brooks-Cochell 
Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Roy V. Heriford officiating.  
Internment was in the Miller Cemetery.

Sartain's first wife Margaret (Maggie) Givens was the daughter of Jesse Givens 
and Mary Ann Stafford of Worth Co., Mo.; the granddaughter of Isaac Givens and 
Catherine Fletcher of Worth Co., Mo. and McPherson Co., Ks.; the great-
granddaughter of James Givens and Susanna Graves of Cooper Co. and Daviess Co., 
Mo., and the great-great-granddaughter of Alexander Givens of Cooper Co., Mo. 
and Fleming Co., Ky.,  who came to this country from Co. Antrim, Ireland before 
the Revolutionary War.
