Biographical Sketch of Brown Wyatt, Wright County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Brown Wyatt, stock trader, of Mountain Grove, Wright Co., was born in St. Clair County, of that state, December 9, 1843, the son of John J. and Christiana (Duckworth) Wyatt, and grandson of John Wyatt, a native of Kentucky, and a farmer by occupation. The great grandfather was also named John Wyatt. The Duckworth family are of Irish descent. John J. Wyatt was born March 20, 1811, in Kentucky, and died in Wild Cherry, Ark., in November, 1880. He was a merchant by occupation, but was also a minister in the Christian Church. By his own individual efforts he obtained a good education, and became a very prominent minister in the Christian Church in Missouri and Arkansas. He would never accept any money for his services in the church. His wife, Christiana Wyatt, was born in Illinois in January, 1822, and was the mother of eight children, of whom our subject is second in order of birth. He attained his growth in Arkansas, and has acquired by appli- cation, a fine business education. He was married at the age of twenty-three to Miss Paulina Haughn, a daughter of Peter Haughn, who was born in Germany, and who was a soldier in the War of 1812. By this union Mr. Wyatt became the father of eight children: Henry Clay, Maggie, Jemima C., John, Dollie, Ada, Oliver and May Leora. These children are now in school. Mr. Wyatt is the owner of 160 acres of land and a residence in town. He ships stock, and has been following shipping to St. Louis for more than twenty years.
