Biographical Sketch of E. B. Young, Wright County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** E. B. Young, furniture merchant and dealer in undertakers' goods at Mansfield, Mo., was born in Wright County, Mo., in 1854, and is a son of Fielding M. and Margaret E. (Montgomery) Young, who were born in Indiana and one of the Eastern States, respectively. The father grew to manhood and followed farming and merchandising in Wright Co., and there died about 1858. His wife died in 1870, aged forty years, having borne a family of six children. (For paternal genealogy, see sketch of Mrs. A. M. Young, and for the maternal genealogy, see sketch of Prof T. J. Montgomerie.) E. B. Young grew to manhood in Phelps county, and was educated at Richland, Mo., in the graded schools. He has been dependent on his own resources since the death of his mother, when he was sixteen years of age, and, with the aid of a patrimony which he received, he has been successful in his busi- ness ventures. For a number of years he worked at various occupations in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Missouri, and followed saw miling for two years in Texas. In 1881 he came to Missouri, and went into business in Hartville, the firm being known as E. B. Young & Co., and then came to Mansfield, and entered business in November, 1882, and here has since remained. He has recently taken William Hopper as a partner, and the firm is now styled the Hopper Furniture Co., their stock being valued at $1,500. Mr. Young owns a good lot and residence, and a half interest in the store. In April, 1886, he married Miss Ada Gorman, a daughter of M. D. Gorman, of Hartville, Mo., by whom he has one child, Virdie Mabel. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
