Son of R.M. and A. L. Ellis. NOTE: Benjamin was raised by his Aunt Sarah Elizabeth (Betty) Ellis Dunsmore, wife of Thomas Dunsmore. His father, Robert M. Ellis, had four other children when Benjamin's mother, Amanda, died. Betty Dunsmore became attached to Benjamin and Robert let him live with her. Betty and Thomas had no children.
