Riley, Miss Oct 3rd, 1898 Mrs. Elizabeth Bridges, I recieved your letter a few days ago was glad to here from you but sassy that you have been sick. There is a lots of sickness here slow fever mostly. There is a right smart of excitement here now about the yellow fever all of the towns are quartened against the trains. The pasengers have stoped. One of our neighbors boy’s Bob Jones got back last week from the war. he did not belong to the company that Ben does. We are looking for Ben home every day. I guess he would have done ben here if it had not been for the yellow fever. he could not get to New Orleans to muster out of service on the account of the yellow fever. it has ben over a week since we have heard from him he said he was going to start to Baton Rouge, La. the next day after he wrote to us and that is where we directed out last letter to . Well the cotton crops are sassy and pr___ low only gets and it rains so much it looks like it will rot in the patch. Well, Newton is well only he has had the whooping cough, but it did not hurt him. He never went to bed at all for it and he eat hastier than ever. We would be glad for you to come to see us and stay awhile. With best wishes.
