Letter [ca. 1795]in the hand of Richard Harrison re Adam Cloud. Not dated. Folio 675 Adams County, MS Submitted by Houston Tracy, Jr. Note: Text in English, but ink has severely bled-through from the reverse side of the paper. In the hand of Richard Harrison and not dated. Houston Tracy, Jr. Folio 675 I was to hear Cloud the other Sunday and was very much surprised to hear him speak as he did, he made mention to his Sermon that he did not know how soon it might be that there might be a stop put to their enjoying their religion in publick and I thought his conversation in his Sermon was rather influencing the Minds of the People and I recalled took his Text agreeable to it, he urged them to hold out at the Risk of lives and property it appeared to me that in case Government thought proper to seize them he wanted the people to enforce it. I never was more surprised in my life to hear such language from any Man who was so favoured as to be permitted to speak in publick. I can prove all I say. I am really afraid both him and [Richard] Curtis will corrupt the Minds of the People if there is not a stop put to them instead of quieting the People, they are inflaming them. I first thought to of mentioned the matter to his Excellency, but again I concluded to you would be sufficient, if required, I can be more full on the subject. I am D??fer with much respect your Humble Servt. [signed] Richard Harrison Note: It is not once or twice, but always is upon his same subject, more or less. R.
