This photo shows Dr. Voyles in his Memphis Medical College cap and gown. He
received his medical degree May 22, 1900. This photo was taken in Memphis,
Tennessee. Dr. Voyles received his early education in the schools of Jacinto and
Burnsville, Mississippi. After graduating from high school, he attended the
University of Mississippi at Oxford, Mississippi, and then the Memphis Medical
College in Memphis, TN, receiving his medical degree May 22, 1900. In 1900 Dr.
Voyles came to Corinth, MS. He was a physician and surgeon for the Southern &
Mobile Railroad, and practiced medicine in Corinth for 30 Years. Telephone
exchange began regular business March 6, 1897. In the list of customers was: Dr.
J.S. Voyles number 59. Drs. Barnhill & Voyles number 57.

Voyles.) Ella Voyles Hardin is my great-grandmother. I now have most of the
photos, greeting cards and a few letters from family members she collected over
her 102 years living.  When Ella's husband (B.F. Hardin) passed away in
November, 1964,family members cleaned Ella's house and destroyed many items.
They filled a 55 gallon drum full of papers, books, and all kinds of "junk" for
the trash man. I saved as much as I could from that drum, and now treasure each
item I could hide.
