Population, 1900 - 31,216. EDWARD EVERETT COWLEY, of Amory, was born March 8, 1861, in Hickman County, Tenn., and is the son of J. H. Cowley and wife Fanny (Beale) Cowley. His ancestors were from Virginia. Mr. Cowley attended the primary schools of Maury County, Tenn., and Webb's Preparatory School at Bellbuckley, Tenn.; entered the National Normal University at Lebanon, Ohio, and was graduated in 1886; taught school in Monroe County since that time; elected to the House of Representatives from Monroe County November 3, 1903. Mr. Cowley is a Democrat; member of Christian Church, Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of the World; was married June 4, 1890, at Troy, Miss., to Della Edmonia Williams, daughter of Nicholas Cooper Williams and wife, Savannah. Mr. and Mrs. Cowley have four children: Herbert Spratt, Maury Baele, Harold Huntsman and Fay.
