He professed hope in Christ at an early age and attended Wonders Home Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He leaves to mourn his passint: a wife; Bertha Cornelius; a son; three step- children; four sister; one uncle of Chicago, Illinois; Father, Robert Gardner, Sr. and two brothers of Mound Bayou, Mississippi and a host of other relatives and friends. St. Matthews - Chapter 7, Verse 14: "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it". Obituary Mr. John Robert Gardner was born to the late Alex and Rose Gardner, January19, 1904 (Pickens County) Essenville, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age. In 1937 the family moved to Mound Bayou, Mississippi and joined the Wander's Home M. B. Churchunder the pastornage of the late Rev. Z. R. Stampley, where he remained until death. In 1939 he was united in holy wedlock to Annie Lee Pace who preceeded him in death January 12, 1972. To this union seven children were born four girls (4) and three boys (3). He leaves to morn his passing two sisters, two borthers, six children Mrs. Derotha Semmes, Miss Alla Fair Gardner, Miss Gerald Faye Gardner, Miss Jacqulyne Faye Gardner all of Chicago, Ill. Mr. hilton J. Gardner, Mound Bayou, Ms., Mr. James Carnell Gardner, Shelby, MS., Three grandchildren, and a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
