(Port Gibson, Miss.) 1824-1833 June 1, 1833 Notice - A Runaway Negro Man for Sale. Negro Man Joseph, or Joseph Williams, who was committed to the jail of my county, on the 19th November, 1832, as a runaway, who then said and still says, that he belongs to Jesse Griffin, on the coast, four miles from New-Orleans. He is five feet nine inches high, 30 or 35 years of age, black complexion. Had on, when committed, a coarse woolen round jacket, cotton shirt and pantaloons, and had with him some other old clothing. The said negro will, (unless the owner complies with the statute in such case made and provided) be offered to the highest bidder, for cash, at the court house in Port-Gibson, between the hours of twelve and four o’clock P. M. Thursday the 20th June next, for his jail and other fees. R. S.
