JOHN V. WHITE, merchant of Murfreesboro, Tenn, is a native of Monroe County, 
Miss, born Sept 24, 1850. His parents were Peyton H. and Sarah (Lee) White. the 
father died in Mississippi and the mother still resides in that Stare. John v. 
was reared on a Mississippi plantation and secured a good practical education 
in his boyhood days. In 1877, he came to Murfreesboro, Tenn., and was salesman 
in a mercantile store two years. He then engaged in the same business for 
himself and has continued to the present time, meeting with good and well 
deserved success. Mr. White started in business with limited capital and small 
stock, but by industry, economy and strict business integrity has climbed the 
ladder of success until he now is one of the first merchants of the city, and 
controls a large share of the trade in city and county. April 15, 1882, 
witnessed the celebration of his muptials with Miss Bettie Jarrett of this 
county. They have one son named Thomas V. Mr. White's political views are 
Democratic and he and wife are members of Methodist Episcopal Church, and he is 
justly one of the reliable and prosperous men on Murfreesboro.

Additional Comments:
John Vallie White was the son of Dr. Peyton Henry and Sarah Hampton Lee White.
He and his wife Elizabeth had only one child- Thomas Vallie White.
John and his wife are buried in Murfreesboro, TN at Evergreen Cemetery.
