White breathed his last after an illness of only five days. A prominent characteristic of West Pont people is the large and tender sympathy for those who mourn. They were with those who weep. From Friday the 14th until Tuesday the 19th, relatives and friends vied with each other in their attentions to help in some way. Peyton White, while a very quiet and retiring man, had a host of friends, who were most devoted to him, whose love he reciprocated loyally. As head of his business, he was making a success, due to his close attention to it, and his courtesty and square dealing towards his customers Orders left with him were executed promplty and satisfactorily. he leaves a little son, Peyton, Jr., father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. White, whose loss is so sore in that they leaned upon his young manhood, a brother, Dr. Chas. White, Mrs. E. J. Huxtable, of Douglas, Ariz, and uncle, Dr. T. C. White, and a large connection, who will long miss him. The funeral was held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L.P Wasson. A large crowd was present showing the high and universal esteem in which he was held. The florals were numerous and beautiful. Messrs. B.J. Rammage, Stacy Hibble, Gates Ivy, Kyle Chandler, Harry Robertson, and Price Ivy acted as pall bearers. Additional Comments: Peyton was the son of William Carter and Martha Ann Trotter White. Peyton was the Grandson of Peyton Henry and Sarah Hampton Lee White. Peyton was married to Annie Peyton Cottrell- Daughter of Albert and Sarah Wilsford Cottrell. Peyton and his wife are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, MS. Peyton and Annie had one child-Peyton Henry White- who died in 1933- Also buried at Greenwood Cemetery. After the death of both parents- Little Peyton was raised by his grandparents.
