MEADVILLE - Services for Mattie Reed Washington, 87, of Meadville, who died 
Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. 
Saturday at New Fork United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Preston 
officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral 
Home of Bude.

Visitation is from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Washington was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Meadville, the daughter of Felonia 
Reed and George Reed.

She was a member of New Fork United Methodist Church.

Ms. Washington was preceded in death her mother and father; two children, 
Hildrey White Sr. and Geneva Scarver; and two grandchildren, Hilda Phelps and 
Hildrey White Jr.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Lula White of Fayette; one adopted 
daughter, Linda Burney of St. Louis, MO; 11 grandchildren, Lenora Snyder, 
Mattie Rankin, Vonda Harris, Demechery Hickinbottom, all of Meadville, 
Christopher Tillman, Essie Hayes and Bessie Hayes, all of Fayette, Cherry 
Scarver, Edward Scarver, Tommy Scarver and Marie Scarver, all of St. Paul, MN; 
13 stepgrandchildren of Fayette; special friend, Mattie Bowie Washington of 
Meadville; 39 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a 
number of nieces, nephews and friends.
