"George County Times”  Newspaper August 31, 1950
The George County Hospital has been open for the inspection of the 
public during the week and will be closed Friday preparing for the formal 
opening Saturday. 

Last Saturday was designated as “Beat Five Day” when visitors 
from that district were shown the hospital. “Beat Four Day” was held 
Monday; “Beat Three Day,” Tuesday; “Beat Two Day,” Wednesday; 
and “Beat One Day,” Thursday.

The following program has been arranged for Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m: 

Song—“American”—Audience and T. S. Doty.
Invocation—Rev. David M. Ulmer
Welcome (Citizens & Visitors)—J. H. Whittington
Presentation of local and visiting officials—W. A. Rouse
Mississippi’s Hospital Program—D. V. Galloway, M. D.
Introduction of Speaker—G. L. Beavers
Address—Lt. Gov. Sam Lumpkin
Dedication—J. H. Whittington
Benediction—Rev. G. S. Jenkins
Miss May Whitlow, RN, has been selected as Superintendent of the 
hospital and will have assisting her:

Mrs. Georgia Rouse, Bookkeeper and Librarian
Miss Shirley Gibson, Office Worker and relief Bookkeeper
Miss Etta Mae Davis, RN, Operating Room Supervisor
Mrs. Grace Chalin, RN, Anesthetist
Miss Selma Rhodes, RN, and Mrs. Edna Earl Edwards, RN, General Duty Nurses
Mrs. A. C. Croom, RN, Extra Duty Nurse
Mrs. Pearl Hester, Supervisor of Dietary Department & Housekeeper
Mr. Edward Goff, Maintenance
Mr. Bruner Moody, Caretaker
Emogene Berry, Cook
Miss Whitlow says that other help will be employed as necessary.

Doctors practicing in George County were Dr. R. L. Benson, 
Dr. S. H. McDonnieal, Dr. L. H. Eubanks, Dr. Millard Jensen, 
Dr. A. K. McMillan, Dr. J. L. Spiceland, and Dr. J. W. Horn.
