Sheriff Garry Marshall Welford, age 63, a resident of Lucedale, MS, passed 
away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 killed while in the line of duty. Garry was a 
life long resident of George County. He served in the United States Navy 
during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. 
Garry served over 37 years in law enforcement as a conservation officer for 
the MS Dept of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks and Sheriff of George County, 
Mississippi. Garry was preceded in death by his father, Melton William 
Welford; mother, Vivian Marie Welford; brother, Stanley Welford, and infant 
sister. Visitation at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Funeral service at Shady 
Grove Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
