LOPEZ" "This day will be remembered as a day of sorrow in Biloxi, for many years, because this morning the sad intelligence was received from far off Rome that Mr. L. Lopez, Sr. has succumbed to an acute attack of dysentery and inflammation of the kidneys and has departed this life. Too much could not be said in the praise of the life and work of this good man, his power in building up apparently waste places, his energy, his honesty, and crown of all of his good qualities, his charity, which knew no limit. The loss of Mr. L. Lopez, Sr., to this city will indeed be great. He always championed every movement of betterment of the conditions and advantages of this city, in which he took such pride and for which he felt such a love, and his far-sighted business intelligence made the solution of many a difficult problem for the city's growth possible of solution. To the bereaved family, wife, sons and daughters, The Herald and the community would express the deepest sympathy. Their loss has been great, beyond calculation. For there never lived a man who was more truly devoted to his family than Mr. Lopez. They seemed to be the center of his thought and in him they always found a friend, a counselor and a helper."
