Preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Winnie Robinson Morse; her husband, Raymond L. Garlotte; her sisters, Evelyn Morse Brown and Gladys Morse Lareau and her brother, Ben R. Morse. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport. Daniel Lee Goolsby, 28, died July 01, 2008 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Goolsby lived in Phoenix, Arizona for one year. Danny was born in Long Beach, CA, November 30, 1979. Danny relocated to Long Beach, MS with his family in 1985. He was preceded in death by his uncle Lester Goolsby, his maternal grandfather William Frederick Truax II, his maternal grandmother Kathleen Donohoe Truax, and his paternal grandfather Lester Wren Goolsby. A Mass of Christian Burial: St. Columba Church. Interment: Greenmount Cemetery. Joseph "William" Holliman, age 95, died July 1, 2008. Born in Gulfport, MS August 22, 1912 to John and Meccolena Holliman. A WWII veteran. He joined the US Naval Armed Guard in 1943 and was commissioned as Lieutenant in 1944. Based out of San Diego, CA, he served in the Pacific theatre visiting such places as Guam, Port Apra, Eniwetok, Guadalcanal, the Philippine Islands, Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Balboa, Cristobal, and the Panama Canal. During his service he was commanding officer aboard the USS John Drew and SS John Morton, and base commander of the US Naval Signal Station in Burwood, LA during its decommissioning. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, as well as the American Theatre of War, Asiatic-Pacific Area, and the WWII Victory Medals. At the end of WWII he was honorably discharged and he returned to his native home in Gulfport. Mr. Holliman, a lifelong bachelor, was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings: Johnnie, Jimmy, Clifton, Sim, Leroy, Oliver, Avon, Frances Goodman, Theodeausa Bond, and Nona Holliman. Interment: Dobson- Holliman Cemetery, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. Lora "Midge" Taranto Johnson, 83, of Biloxi died July 1, 2008 in Biloxi. A native of Union, MS. She was the former owner of Biloxi Produce Co. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas E. Taranto, second husband, Roger E. Johnson, son, Michael E. July 2 MSgt Jack Donald Melton, USAF, Ret., age 77, born in Lexington, MS on July 29, 1930, died July 2, 2008. His parents, Fred and Blanche Melton, his brothers, Elmer and Fred Melton, all of Jackson, MS, and a brother-in-law, Roy Cleveland of Osyka, MS preceded him in death. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant after 20 years of service, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Joseph Tillman, age 54 of Biloxi, MS, died July 4, 2008 in Gulfport. July 5 Sgt. Ronald John Campora, USMC, served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a tunnel rat, front man and in land mine demolition. Mr. Campora, known by many as "Campy" spent most of his life in the New Orleans area. He owned numerous lounges, including the Half Shell in New Orleans, Campy's in Slidell and Pelican Bay in Chalmette. Ronald Campora died Saturday, July 5, 2008 in Biloxi at the age of 60. He is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Campora, and brother, Richard Campora. Services: Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Blvd. in Biloxi, where he will receive military honors. Mrs. Letort was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Letort; parents, Napoleon and Daisy Groue; sisters, Doris Broussard and Gloria Davis; and one brother, Warren Groue. Interment: D'Iberville Memorial Park. Lawrence Semski, age 82, died July 5, 2008, in Biloxi, MS. Judge Semski was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Semski and Augusta Cruso Semski; his siblings, Agnes Semski Sekul, Lillian Semski Gill, Peter Semski and Annie Semski. Lawrence was born June 26, 1926, in a quaint house on Point Cadet, Biloxi. At Biloxi High School he was a star scholar, athlete and was a member of the inaugural 1943 Shrimp Bowl championship team. After graduation in 1944, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and was later commissioned in the U. S. Air Force Reserve as 2nd Lieutenant. Lawrence served as City Attorney for the City of Biloxi from 1971 to 1979 and Harrison County Family Court Judge from 1971 to 1979. In 1976 he was appointed by then President Gerald Ford to serve on the National Advisory Committee for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency, where he served as chairman of the Standards Committee, garnering the development of national standards for juvenile justice delinquency prevention and was a pioneer in troubled youth rehabilitation. He also served as a municipal judge for the City of Biloxi and maintained a private law practice until his retirement in 1997. A Mass of Christian Burial: Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral. Long Hung Tran, age 79, a resident of Biloxi, died July 6, 2008, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Tran was a resident of the MS Gulf Coast for the past 25 years. Born: Apr 2, 1929 in Vietnam. Lester Giles Panter, age 71, of Biloxi, MS, died July 7, 2008 in Biloxi. July 8 SMSgt Richard Bell, USAF, Ret, RN, age 85, of Gulfport, died July 8, 2008 in Gulfport. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dr. Shirly Bell; a sister, Thelma Stankard; a son-in-law, Michael Crump; and two grandsons, Micah Wagner and Beau Bell. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, having served in World War II and during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a registered nurse and served as nurse for the Gulfport and Biloxi jails throughout the 1980's. He was a former high school football, basketball, and baseball referee, and served as a referee in the Senior Bowl in Mobile. Winnie Moran Roberts, 81, formerly of the MS Gulf Coast, died July 16, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Roberts was born Feb. 27, 1927, in DeLisle, MS to C. J. Moran and Permelia Garriga Moran. After a brief period, Mr. Jack went into the Army as a first lieutenant in the Korean War for two tours and was awarded the Bronze Star while serving on the front line. Before the Korean War, Mr. Jack was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas where he met Violet. They were married August 12, 1953, in Fort Riley, Kansas. In 1967, along with his brother-in-law, Milo Marsh, opened Milo's Pizza. Soon after, they opened Mr. Jack's Pizza in Long Beach, Orange Grove, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport. He also had the Chicken Dipper in Long Beach on Klondyke Rd. In 1968 Mr. Jack and two partners opened the Animal Kingdom on Beatline Rd. and Railroad in Long Beach. Warren Edwin John Forrest, 85, of New Orleans, LA, died at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi on Thursday July 31, 2008. He was born to Edwin & Amy Forrest on July 13, 1923 in New Orleans. A Kings Point Academy graduate, Warren served with distinction in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He continued his career and love for the Sea over 31 years as a Merchant Marine and worked with the Army Corp of Engineers, eight of those in Vietnam. The Graveside Service: Biloxi National Cemetery. Patricia Ann Henderson, 60, of Biloxi, died July 31, 2008, in Gulfport. She is preceded in death by her father, Claude A. Henderson; her mother, Janet D. Henderson; and her brother, Michael D. Henderson. Burial: Long Beach City Cemetery. Elbert Harris, 55, of Gulfport, MS, died July 31, 2008. Service: Maranatha Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 730 Georgia Street, Gulfport. Elizabeth "Liz" Rice Hood, 55, of Walland, TN, died July 31, 2008. Memorial Service: F.H., 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Ferrall James Ladner, age 77, of Long Beach, died July 31, 2008 in Gulfport. Mr. Ladner was a native of the Kiln, Hancock County, MS, and lived most of his life on the coast. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Izetta Ladner; 2 brothers: Winton J. Ladner and Murthon A. Ladner; a sister, Alfreda Ladner Monus; and a grandson, Jared Houston. Interment: Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens. Madelle "Mady" Williams Noble, died July 31st in Long Beach, MS, born in Millican, TX. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport, Gulfport Yacht Club, and an Associate member of BPOE Gulfport. She was a former member of the American Association of University Women, the National Association of Women in Construction, Civic League of Gulfport and the Metropolitan Dinner Club. She was the former Queen of Les Cavaliers, the 2nd Queen of the original BPOE Carnival Krewe and a member of the Les Dansuese Carnival Krewe.
