Caillavet, son of Capt. and Mrs. John L. Caillavet of this city, a young man who has lived all his life in Biloxi, met instant death by electrocution while at work today on the wires of the Gulfport & Mississippi Coast Traction Company in Gulfport. Mr. Caillavet was employed by the Traction Company and it was a little before 12 o'clock while he was at work at the top of one of the company's poles that the high tension wire came in contact with his body and he was instantly killed. The wire seemed to strike him on the neck and his neck and shoulder were terribly burned by the fiery and invisible fluid. Those who saw the accident say that death was instantaneous. The body was taken to Walston's undertaking establishment in Gulfport and will be brought to Biloxi. Mr. Caillavet was about twenty-two years old, unmarried and leaves a father and mother and several sisters to mourn his death. To his friends he was familiar known as 'Man'." Additional Comments: John E. Caillavet was born in Biloxi on March 16, 1882. He was the son of John Latour Caillavet (1852-1923)and Georgiana Dees (1856-1929).
