Castaned, a prominent and distinguished figure passed away on Sunday last. He was a man among ten thousand and our citizens who remember the terrible scourge of 1878 can well bring to mind the heroic services that he rendered. His first visit to Biloxi was at the earnest solicitation of Mrs. Eliza Desporte to attend Chas. Quave who was suffering from small pox in 1874. He endeared himself to the people here and was induced to remain, leaving a grand practice at Mobile. He was a man of noble qualities and his charities were innumerable He was buried on Monday at the Biloxi cemetery, Father Bally officiating. A wife and child mourn his loss and have the sympathy of all who knew him. While not a rich man he leaves his bereaved widow in comfortable circumstances. His memory will long be revered in Biloxi."
