January 2 Robert Lloyd Barnett was born November 25, 1943 in Waycross, GA to the late Willie M. Barnett and Mary F. Barnett. At the age of eleven he was baptized at Main St. Missionary Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS. Later he joined First Missionary Baptist Church of Handsboro under the leadership of Rev. E. L. Fox, where his father served faithfully as a deacon. Robert Barnett passed away Wednesday, January, 2, 2008 at the age of 64. Burial will follow at Monroe Memorial Park. LeGrone, 86, of Gulfport, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 in Gulfport. One of his proudest accomplishments in life was being a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in WWII, where he completed 65 missions in the Air Offense of Europe as a B26 Flight Engineer and a Tail Gunner and was part of the Air Support of the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche LeGrone; parents, Walter and Alma LeGrone; brothers, Wilson, Archie, Noah, Pete and Howard, his identical twin; and his sister, Alma Mae Holman. Aucoin, 79, of Biloxi, MS, died Friday, January 4, 2008, in Biloxi. Norman was born June 8, 1928, in Athol, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He served on the USS Leyte CV32 and the USS Sirago during the Korean Conflict. Later he joined the U. S. Air Force and retired from the military in 1969. Norman was preceded in death by his former wife, Irma Aucoin, and his parents, Thomas C. and Elida Gogden Aucoin. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" was engraved on a plaque on the front door of Arthur Loomis Allen's home before it was swept away by Hurricane Katrina. For 95 years, until his death on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, Arthur was born in Pascagoula, Miss. on Nov. 14, 1912, to Arthur and Gertrude Loomis Allen. On New Year's Eve, 1934, he eloped with the love of his life, Juanita (Nita) Dixon, who preceded him in death on July 18, 2007. Arthur lived his entire life in Jackson County. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Everett Allen; two sisters, Marie Allen Hollister and Naomi Allen Everett Sparkman; and a brother, Robert Glenn Allen. Green age 36 of Gautier, MS died Monday, January 7, 2008 in Afghanistan were he was serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was born April 6, 1971 in Pascagoula, MS to Hacy E. and Jane Breland Green and was raised in Gautier. He attended grade school in Gautier, and went to Pascagoula High School through his junior year. He graduated from Buckhannon High School in Buckhannon, WV, and Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV, where he was a member of the ROTC. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Army, and fulfilling a life long dream of serving in the armed forces. Major Green will be deeply missed by all who knew him as well as a grateful nation. Moody Grishman, age 94, of Biloxi, died on January 7, 2008 in Biloxi at the Biloxi Community Living Center. Mr. Grishman was born in Houston, Texas, October 20, 1913, the son of Ben and Annie Grishman. Moody married Elizabeth Cowan on March 20, 1942. He owned and operated Moody's Tradewinds Restaurant in Mississippi City until it was destroyed by the 1947 hurricane, after which he entered the real estate and insurance business in Biloxi. Following Hurricane Camille in 1969. Mr. Grishman had a distinguished career in the real estate brokerage business. He served as the President of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Board of Realtors in 1956 and 1961, State President of the Mississippi Association of Realtors from 1967 to 1968, and was named Realtor Emeritus of the National Association of Realtors for 50 years of service. Mr. Grishman also served eleven years on the Biloxi Planning Commission from 1966-1977. Mr. Grishman was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and his brother, Irving Grishman and wife, Miriam. Bristow, 53, Bill as we knew him, passed on to be with the Lord on January 13, 2008. He was born on November 18, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia. He had lived in Biloxi for the last 52 years. Matthews, age 92, of Gulfport passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008 in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Matthews was born in Lyons, WI and was a resident of Gulfport at the Armed Forces Retirement Home for about 15 years and moved to Washington D.C. following Hurricane Katrina. She was Catholic and a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Matthews. Barbara Jefferson Warhop was born on January 1, 1939 to Jordon Jefferson and Irma Lewis Blackston in Gulfport, MS. There she married her second husband, Edward Warhop. On Sunday, January 13, 2008 Barbara Jefferson Warhop passed away in Ocean Springs at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Edward Warhop and Joseph Price; her parents: Jordan Jefferson, Authur and Irma Blackston; her aunts and uncles: Eunice Lewis, Ionia Lewis Lyons and James C. Don Stark Hancock, 66, Russellville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama. Gregory Joseph Hinkkanen, 61, passed away at the Veterans Hospital on Tuesday, Jan 15, 2008. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, but has been a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Greg proudly served in the U.S. ARMY 101st Airborne Division and was stationed in Vietnam, where he was offered a purple heart. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father, Harry; father-in-law, Buster Root and one infant granddaughter. August Jeffrey Miller 87, of Ocean Springs, MS. passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Mr. Miller was born August 2, 1920 in Purvis, MS to the late William G. and Daisy Miller. As a young child his family moved to New Orleans, LA where he would live the next 60 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, August Jeffrey Miller Jr. and Robert Scott Miller; a grandson, William Miller and eleven siblings. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors. Garrad Williams, age 74 of Princeton, W.Va., died Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
