Huber, 67, of Gulfport, MS, formerly of Galva, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, as the result of a tractor accident on his farm in rural LaFayette. Keith was born March 24, 1941 in rural LaFayette, IL, the son of Howard and Maxine (Peterson) Huber. Mr. Huber was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Huber, and brother, Kenneth Huber. In 1982 he founded Keith Huber, Inc., of Gulfport, MS, now the largest independent manufacturer of Vacuum Loading equipment in the U.S. Keith has been a major part of the Gulf Coast since 1979 and has touched many lives. Keith Huber, Inc. has employed numerous people over the last 26 years. Keith remodeled and reopened the Sugar Mill Restaurant that many enjoyed. His love for property often showed when he was seen on his bulldozer and excavator clearing and shaping the land. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a major plant expansion in 1998, a close employee said, "The technology and products we produce as a company, the environmental harmony we achieve, the vision for the future we see, is empowered to us by a creative, understanding, relentless individual. I truly believe that this individual realizes his accomplishments when he witnesses the growth of someone else." This was Keith's greatest goal for others to recognize the potential within themselves. Keith's early accomplishments include designing the original Chaparral snowmobile, the Mallard Coach snowmobile and creating the first production model electronic controlled Golf Car. More recent passions include collecting and restoring 57- 59 Plymouths and restoring the family farm to era 1949-50. Memorial Service: at Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, MS. Funeral services will be held at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery.
