Biloxi Herald on 8 August 1891
"Mrs. Mary A. Meaut, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Biloxi, died
last Thursday, after a short illness. Mrs. Meaut was born in Biloxi in 1814 and
resided here until her death. She leaves nine children, to whom the Herald extends
its sincerest sympathy. The remains were interred in the cemetery here, Friday, and
were followed to their final resting place by a large number of sorrowing friends."
