Coopers Well.  Amid the bustle and 
hurry and worry of getting ready and the
talk of a visit to the northern and sea coast
resorts, comparatively few among us stop
to think of a charming watering place
almost at our doors.  Cooper’s well for the
past two or three years has done much to 
regain the prestige of its old time “antebellum”
glory, and a stroll along its pleasant 
galleries and halls past groups of
charming Southern girls and gallant beaux,
and matrons who vie in youth and beauty
and sweet grace of manner with the girls
they chaperone, reminds one of the old days
in Mississippi, the memory of which dwells
in our hearts, and when the cords are
touched ever so lightly harmony is the
result.  Many of Vicksburg’s society leaders
make the well a veritable fairy bower this
week.  Among the are Mrs. Nannie McCutchen
Vincent, Mrs. Julius M. Klein,
Mrs. Lella Armstrong, Mrs. E.M. Moore,
Mrs. St. John   Willis and Mrs. Wm. Britton, 
are chaperones for a bevy of girls, who
would turn the head of any “Saint Anthony.”
old or young, and beguile him and befool
him to their heart’s content.  Our people 
are to be congratulated at having such
pleasant and health giving waters so near,
and where the sweet smile and laughter
and genial converse come from  our own
fair southern women.
