Cooper’s Well is the most noted mineral water in the United States; It is in the county of Hinds, State of Mississippi, fourteen and a half miles southwest of Jackson, and four miles from Raymond, the county seat, a station on the line of the Natchez, Jackson & Columbus Railroad. Persons desiring to visit Cooper’s Well will leave trains at Raymond, on Natchez, Jackson & Columbus Railroad. From thence they will be conveyed by Hacks direct to the well. The water rises in a well ninety-seven feet deep. The surrounding country is broken and diversified, and is noted for the remarkable purity of the atmosphere and its well known and highly valued healthfulness and no more pleasant summer retreat could be found.
