Spengler and a valuable mare, the property of John Morrison of Raymond, perishing in the flames. The fire, which is supposed to have been accidental, broke out in the front end of the building, near the stalls occupied by the stock, and spread so rapidly it was impossible to extricate the animals after entrance to the building had been gained by breaking down the rear door. The stable was located only about two hundred feet east of the three- story hotel known at “bachelor’s building,” which marvelously escaped destruction also, as a stiff breeze was blowing in that direction. The Loss on buildings and the stock will amount to about $900.
