Hinds County Gazette December 1916

Residence Burned

   Thursday morning, near noon,
fir broke out in Miss Belle Chapman’s
residence in the roof, and
made such rapid  headway that
 the entire roof was burned and
part of the upper room.   The 
entire contents were saved, though
somewhat damaged.  there was
some delay in getting the  hose
connected up, but when the big
stream  did  start it  was only a 
few minutes in extinguishing the
flames.   We  regret  to say that
 Miss Belle  had  no  insurance;
however,  we  think  she will be
able to make necessary repairs.
